SARAH DOUGLAS
NIGHT CLUB FOUNDER

Sarah designs inspiring ways to engage people with important topics. With experience across art, innovation and education, she has combined a career as a professional artist with ones in art and design consultancy, academia and the strategic direction of creative projects. 

Sarah is a director of the creative consultancy The Liminal Space and in 2018 she founded the Night Club programme to support the millions of people working at night who are dealing with serious impacts to their health, wellbeing and productivity at work.

ELLA REYNOLDS
CO-HEAD OF PROGRAMME

Ella leads Night Club alongside Ben Lumley.
She is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of night workers, and passionate about putting night workers' experiences at the forefront while supporting organisations to make change.

With a background in design, she has led programmes internationally across the fields of learning, arts and social impact for more than a decade.

BEN LUMLEY
CO-HEAD OF PROGRAMME

Ben leads Night Club alongside Ella Reynolds. He specialises in the design and delivery of social purpose programmes. He has well over a decade’s experience leading government policy and programmes across criminal justice, public health, housing and public service innovation. 

Ben has been working on Night Club since early 2023 and has worked across operations, business development, our policy campaign, evaluation and impact. He is passionate about bringing the voices of shift workers into all of Night Club’s work.

PROFESSOR RUSSELL FOSTER
LEAD SLEEP SCIENTIST

Russell oversees the development of Night Club’s evidence-based content. He is Head of the University of Oxford’s world-leading Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, as well as the Nuffield Laboratory of Ophthalmology.

His research includes wider neurobiology and the implications that disrupted sleep patterns can have on our performance, productivity, physical and mental health.

 

FINN PAUL
PROJECT MANAGER

With a wealth of experience working within mental health support, Finn is passionate about innovative problem-solving and driving social impact. He is also a keen musician and photographer, and brings this creative approach with him to Night Club.


DR. STEVEN WALSH
SLEEP SCIENTIST

Steve holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford’s leading Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute. After spending nine years as a firefighter, his experience working night shifts motivated him to pursue a career in scientific research, in order to understand the effect that lack of sleep has on the human body. 

Steve is passionate about disseminating everything he learned during his PHD to other night workers to help them cope better with the challenging hours and to lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

MUNA ABDULLAH
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Muna is a highly qualified cognitive behavioural therapist and current trainee clinical psychologist with a experience in diverse mental health settings, such as the NHS, academic training centres and community organisations. Her extensive experience includes delivering workshops and 1:1 intervention, with a particular focus on addressing sleep difficulties among shift workers.

ARIAM ABRAHAM
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Ariam is a cognitive behavioural therapist and specialises in treating mild to severe depression, generalised anxiety disorder and sleep and stress disorders. She has worked in the mental health field in various roles for many years and has a keen interest in the impact of sleep on the mind and body. She supports her clients to understand the problems, behaviours and thought patterns that may be contributing towards sleep difficulties.

 

LIZ BISHOP
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Liz has a degree in Psychology, a keen interest in sleep science and is a longstanding shift worker. She has seen first-hand the negative impacts on physical and mental health due to the shift lifestyle, and continually supports people to try making small changes in everyday life to prepare and accommodate for the working pattern.  

Liz was one of our very first Sleep Champions when we launched the programme in 2017, collecting on site research and feeding back into the programme in the early development stages.

LENNICIA HUNTLEY
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Lennicia is a trainee clinical psychologist with over a decade’s experience in mental health research and care. She has worked in various NHS and community settings, delivering therapy across multiple modalities and integrating evidence-based approaches. 

Passionate about systemic factors affecting mental health, Lennicia explores the impact of social inequality on wellbeing and has presented her research at international conferences.

CATRIONA EWART
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Cat is currently completing a PhD focusing on adolescent sleep and co-developing an intervention to improve sleep among young people. With many years of experience in the mental health field, she is interested in the relationship between sleep and mental health, and is passionate about sharing strategies to help people feel well rested. Cat utilizes art-based approaches to understand health problems and to engage the wider community in sleep health.

GRACE SOWANDE
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Grace is a trainee clinical psychologist and has experience delivering person-centred psychological assessments and interventions in a culturally sensitive way. She is passionate about improving people’s sleep through emotional and physical wellbeing. Grace uses psychological interventions and techniques to help people improve their emotional wellbeing and their sleep.
 

 

DR SARAH ATAYERO
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Sarah is a HCPC-registered clinical psychologist. With several years' experience in the NHS, corporate and third sectors, she delivers culturally informed and evidence-based mental health care to individuals across the lifespan. Sarah’s clinical work, consultation and research focus on the experiences of global majority populations and staff wellbeing.

At Night Club, Sarah excels in translating complex sleep science research into engaging and accessible information that people can easily incorporate into their daily lives.

DR RON DODZRO
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Ron is a clinical and community psychologist (HCPC registered). He enjoys breaking down science into accessible language to engage multiple audiences.  Ron has extensive experience running workshops within the NHS and  private 1:1 sessions and has worked within different therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Narrative therapy, Systemic therapy and Schema therapy. 

Ron has a particular interest in sleep, stress and trauma and focuses on how systems impact on individual mental health, based on his experiences with a broad range of people.

SOPHIE WATSON
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Sophie holds an MA in Art Psychotherapy and has worked for a number of years in different mental health settings including NHS community mental health teams, inpatient wards and care homes. 

Sophie is interested in exploring the holistic treatment of mental illness, acknowledging the links between arts, science, work, sleep and social inequalities. Sophie also is no stranger to night shifts herself, and has seen first-hand the varying effect it had on herself and her colleagues, leading to her passion for increasing public awareness and acting to improve sleep health.

ELEANOR HEATON-ARMSTRONG
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Eleanor is a qualified personal trainer and nutritional scientist. She has studied internal health for two decades with particular emphasis on metabolic biochemistry, holistic physiological health (including sleep) and women’s health and hormones. 

Eleanor knows all about the human body and diet, and is keen to better understand people’s sleep patterns and help them to make positive steps towards more healthy sleep.


DR PHILIP TURNER
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Philip has been an operational firefighter for over 20 years and holds a doctorate in Health from the University of Bath. His research has helped the UK Fire and Rescue Service develop a better understanding of how the workplace environment affects employee health and wellbeing. He has a particular interest in how shift working affects sleep behaviour and fatigue and the strategies to consider to reduce levels of presenteeism in the workplace.

AMELIA WEST
PROGRAMME FACILITATOR

Amelia is a biomedical scientist currently training to be a doctor at Sheffield University, with a view to specialising in Psychiatry. Through her work, she is passionate about promoting healthy wellbeing and engaging in social issues. 

Amelia’s scientific background lends itself well to the Night Club curriculum, and she is well versed in communicating sleep science in a clear, engaging way relevant to shift workers.
