MAKING NIGHT WORK HEALTHIER

MAKING NIGHT WORK HEALTHIER

DId you know that 97% of night workers will never be able to adjust their sleep cycles to a nocturnal routine? If you answered ‘no’ then you’re not alone – two thirds of the adults we recently surveyed incorrectly believe that “everyone can get used to working shifts”.

It’s myths and misinformation like this that are part of the problem of night work – both managers and employees need a better understanding of the challenges that night workers face so that they can then work to mitigate the negative impacts.

Our new report aims to dispel these myths and, using fresh research and interviews, share all that we’ve learnt whilst delivering our unique sleep support programme to over 10,000 employees in more than 30 companies across the UK in the last six years.

Our report puts the experiences of night workers front and centre — exploring what support night workers need, outlining practical changes employers have made to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff and detailing progress towards essential change at a policy level.

Night workers are 37% more likely to have a heart attack, 44% more likely to have diabetes and 6 times more likely to divorce than day workers… so, as Night Club continues to grow, we’re dedicated to creating a healthier experience for the millions of people who keep our 24/7 society running, and giving this often-overlooked workforce the attention and support it deserves.
